 David brings a unique blend of public sector service and private sector experience to the field of economic development fundraising.

A STELLAR Career
David began his business career in Omaha, and then Charlotte as a VP with First Union National Bank. During this entire period, he was involved in civic and political activities, which included the Jaycees and Young Republicans. After serving in several campaign chairmanship positions in the presidential and gubernatorial races in 1972, David accepted a gubernatorial appointment as director of North Carolina Department of Revenue.
After four years of serving the Governor, David launched his own company, Bancorp Associates, specializing in fundraising, bank charter applications, EFT (ATM/Pos/EBT), and executive recruiting with offices in Raleigh, Atlanta, and Denver.
In 1985, David received another gubernatorial appointment as the North Carolina Savings and Loan Regulator in Raleigh. After eight years, David joined a national fundraising organization and conducted several successful economic development fundraising initiatives and feasibility studies throughout the United States.
In 1999, David was contracted by Triangle United Way of North Carolina to manage several fundraising functions including the Loaned Executive Program, Program Sponsorship and Underwriting, Speakers Bureau, and AdT. During this period, David also served “of counsel” to Capital Resource Group, Raleigh, and Indianapolis, drafting a business plan for expansion and managing several client fundraising projects across the country.
A STELLAR Foundation
In addition to a degree from the University of Nebraska in Business Administration and Pre Law, David attended Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy. He enjoys tennis, golf, and being a part of his grandchildren’s lives and activities.
David has six children and six grandchildren and lives in Boynton Beach, Florida. |
