Northwest Ohio Group Begins Campaign to Increase Economic Development
Funding
After completion of a Feasibility Study by
STELLAR, Greater Erie County
Marketing Group (GEM), launched a campaign to raise $1.25 million for
economic growth. GEM is the lead economic development organization in Erie
County, Ohio.
 Mark Litten, Executive
Director of GEM said “Our leadership recognizes that the national and
local economies are turning around and we need to be ahead of the curve to
remain competitive in securing new investment and job growth in our
community. We have developed strategic goals and objectives to be
accomplished over the next 3 to 5 years and with
STELLAR’s expertise we will
be able to secure the necessary funding to bring our plan to fruition.”
Project-Funding Trends
 In the early 1990's, funders began to de-emphasize projects that dealt with intractable
problems on a grand scale, in favor of projects that address more
manageable problems on a local level. That trend is holding solid as we
move into the first decade of the 21st Century.
