STELLAR has added even more value for our clients with the addition of Tom Ralser and Paul Santiago to our team. "Tom pioneered the use of ROI based fundraising techniques and Paul brings great hands-on business development and campaign experience to STELLAR," said STELLAR President and CEO Terry Cusack.

Below are Tom and Paul's bio...enjoy!

Tom Ralser, President Capital Strategists Group, A STELLAR Strategic Partner

“If you don’t demonstrate the true value of your organization to potential funders, they will fund another organization.”

Serving STELLAR Clients:

One of the strengths of the STELLAR system is relating how a program will benefit the organization’s constituency. When it comes time to demonstrate that an investment in a nonprofit will make a difference in the community and to the investor’s business, STELLAR calls on Capital Strategists Group (CSG). Using CSG’s Organizational Value Proposition as the cornerstone of their fundraising case statement, STELLAR is able to shorten decision times, get larger pledges, and ultimately raise more money.

A STELLAR Career:

Tom Ralser, founder of CSG, has worked with hundreds of organizations in 48 states, and has over 18 years experience working with those seeking his financial know-how and analytical skills. Prior to starting CSG, Tom was a founding partner of the Economic Strategy Center, Inc., a strategy development firm in Atlanta, Georgia. There he pioneered the practice of using performance-based outcomes in a return on investment framework to enhance the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns. This approach has been used successfully on over 200 campaigns, and continues to be the “silver bullet” that attracts investment for nonprofits.

A STELLAR Foundation:

He holds the prestigious Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation, but rather than apply his skills to portfolio management, he applies them to the more challenging task of investment justification in the nonprofit world. He also earned the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation, a B.S. in Marketing from Illinois State University, and an M.S. in Finance from the University of Utah.

Prior to moving to Atlanta, Tom was the founding Director of the Western Colorado Bureau of Economic and Business Research at Mesa State College, where he was also tenured as an Associate Professor of Finance/Business Administration. He has also served as Director for the Utah Small Business Development Center.

Paul Santiago, Senior Vice President, Business Development

Tenacity mixes with an agreeable manner to ensure that things get done and deals get sealed.

Serving STELLAR Clients:

Paul helps traverse the rocky terrain often encountered when getting fundraising initiatives started. Steering your program in the right direction ensures that it reaches its destination on time, over goal and under budget.

A STELLAR Career:

Paul brings a truly global perspective, having traveled the world during five years’ service in the US Navy. His trustworthiness is demonstrated by the fact that, while in the navy, he held a top-secret security clearance.

Grounded by a professional background in the financial services field, Paul moved on to rack up accomplishments in sales and marketing. While opening up a territory for an Atlanta-based document destruction firm, he managed to generate $2 million in new client revenue. As another firm’s VP of Marketing, Paul directed the development of a CD-ROM that generated several million dollars in annual revenue.

Paul’s experience with non-profit fundraising includes the successful direction of Alabama’s Mobile Area Education Foundation (raising $2.1 million), the restoration of Birmingham’s Rickwood Field, America’s oldest baseball park ($1 million) and Tuscaloosa, Alabama’s Challenge 21 Economic Development Campaign ($2.1 million).

His work with chambers, economic development groups and other nonprofits has contributed to communities in California, New York State, Georgia and elsewhere around the country.

A STELLAR Foundation:

Paul currently is working toward a degree in Business Administration. While in the navy, he earned several commendations. He and wife, Nora, live with their children Nicol, Jade, Brandon and Violet in Jacksonville, Florida.
