A Mayor's perspective

Understanding the perspectives of all stakeholders and their respective roles is important in building a strong community development program.  STELLAR Vice President & Senior Consultant Tom Flavin, as a former Mayor and City Councilman of Burbank, CA offers some valuable observations about local government's role in community development.

Read Tom's insights, gained from his experience directing regional Economic Development programs in Los Angeles and Denver, in his timely article HERE

Regional effort is never easy, but...

it sometimes becomes exceedingly difficult.  Agencies comprising the Piedmont Triad Partnership had the right idea when they joined together in an aggressive effort to raise funds for a far-reaching regional economic development initiative.  The STELLAR guided fundraising effort has turned out to be the easy part of the job, as road-blocks began to appear in spite of the best efforts of the Partnership.  Read the full story of this adventure in regional partnership HERE

It may be appropriate to visit an earlier contribution to this space for a discussion with STELLAR Founder and CEO Terry Cusack about what it takes to make a regional effort succeed.  Read a reprint of the Area Development Magazine article HERE
