Giving Back!

STELLAR recently announced a bold new partnership as a Silver Annual Sponsor of the Florida Economic Development Council (FEDC). "This is a solid opportunity to give something back" said STELLAR Founder & CEO Terry Cusack. The comprehensive sponsorship package is a substantial commitment by STELLAR, bringing an opportunity for broader support for local economic developers in our home state. Albany (GA) Steps up to the Plate

Business and community leaders of Albany, GA recently took part in a 75 interview STELLAR feasibility study intended to gauge local support for a bold new economic and community development initiative in that city.  The Albany Chamber of Commerce sponsored the study and will lead the subsequent multi-million dollar campaign.  Chamber President Tim Martin says of STELLAR; "I'm convinced we selected the right company and consultants to make the 'Good Life City' even better."

There's a lesson here: An ED group closes

The Allegan County (MI) Economic Development Alliance, an organization with twenty years of successful operations behind it, will close it's doors for good this year.  The organization's future has been up in the air for the past few years, according to local newspaper accounts, but when county government cut its funding, the leaves began to fall.  Over-reliance on public funding appears to have claimed another victim. Terry Cusack's recent interview with Area Development Magazine points out some of the risk of single-source funding. Read it here:

Coming Next Month!

Readers of STELLAR FUNDamentals will find a valuable new service in this space next month.  By agreement with some of the nation's top executive search firms, we'll be posting available positions at leading economic and community development organizations from across the country.  Look for it in May and every month to follow.
